If you want to sell a domain fast, start with what does not exist. GoDaddy, Afternic, Atom, Sedo and Namecheap have no verified, operating instant-offer or “we buy your domain for cash” programme, and none of their pages describes one. Nobody at those venues will quote you a price and wire the money today. What they offer is faster ways to reach a buyer. All terms below were checked on 23 October 2026.
Can you sell a domain instantly for cash?
Not through a major venue. Investor forums do run domain auctions and wholesale threads, and some investors will make you an offer, but there is no published, standing programme to compare. Treat any unsolicited “instant offer” with care, especially one that starts with a paid appraisal: that pattern is covered in domain name scams.
What is real is a fixed Buy Now price on a marketplace that transfers the name automatically, or a wholesale auction where investors bid against a deadline. One more door has closed. GoDaddy stopped accepting new member-to-member listings at GoDaddy Auctions from 29 April 2024, including 7-day auctions, Buy it Now and offer listings. GoDaddy’s own words: “Afternic is the marketplace to list your domains for sale.” Namecheap’s auctions are closed to sellers too; it says listing your own domains there is “not possible”.
The fast routes, compared
Speeds and fees are as each venue states them. Afternic’s commission is worded differently on its own fees page and on GoDaddy’s help page, so check the comparison in where to sell domain names before relying on a figure.
| Route | Speed | Fees | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Afternic Buy Now with Fast Transfer | Listing reviewed “within 48 hours”; on sale, transfer “instantly” | Free to list; commission per GoDaddy 15% or 25%, plus 5% with Boost (Afternic’s page differs) | Eligible extension, Buy Now under $100,000 |
| Namecheap Market | Visible “within the next 24 hours”; earnings withdrawable after a 5-day wait | Flat 10% | Namecheap-registered names, $5 to $1,000,000 |
| Sedo Buy Now | Sedo claims “up to three times faster” than other options; no payout time published | 10% parked or with sales lander; 15% otherwise; 20% via SedoMLS | A fixed-price retail listing |
| Sedo Direct Auction | Seven days | $59 setup plus 15% | A sale with a deadline |
| NameJet daily online auction | Payout aimed at “within seven (7) days” of sale | Free to submit; 20% | Names already at the NameJet registrar |
| SERPHeroes fixed price | Reviewed before going live; transfer “usually hours to a few days” | Free to list; 10% on sale, plus Escrow.com’s fee | Aged names aimed at SEO buyers |

Fast Transfer is the quickest fixed-price route because delivery needs nothing from you. Afternic says a Fast Transfer domain “is transferred to the buyer instantly”, and Namecheap describes transfers “in just minutes rather than days”. The limits are strict: Buy Now below $100,000, a supported extension (.com, .co, .net, .org, .de, .biz, .pw, .io, .xyz or .info), registered 60 days or more at a supported registrar, not within 30 days of expiry and not under a 60-day lock. The listing steps are in how to list a domain for sale.
Auctions: a deadline, at wholesale prices
An auction gives you a date. Sedo’s Direct Auction runs for seven days on its homepage, search results and your auction page. If a Make Offer listing receives a bid, you can push it to auction free for up to five days afterwards, using that bid as the reserve. NameJet’s daily online auction is free to submit and takes 20%; its own example turns a $2,500 sale into a $2,000 payout. The domain must already sit in your NameJet registrar account.

Read NameJet’s exclusivity terms before submitting to its Showcase, private or live events: they grant NameJet the exclusive right to sell the name for 60 days. For how bidding, reserves and closes work in general, see how domain auctions work.
What speed costs: wholesale vs retail
The fast routes reach investors; the slow ones reach end users, and the price gap is large. A GoDaddy engineering blog from 26 July 2019 said GoDaddy Auctions, “used mostly by domain investors, has an average sale price of $170, while the Afternic reseller network has an average sale price of over $1,500.” It added that sale context “can often account for more of the differences in price than the names themselves.”

Later figures point the same way. TLD Investors, using NameBio data for .com only, found a 2019 average of $1,406 across all sales against $429 at GoDaddy, which it called mostly “wholesale or investor level”. Domain Name Wire reported GoDaddy’s company-wide average aftermarket transaction value at $321 in Q1 2025, and, summarising the Global Domain Report 2026, put Sedo’s median price at $818. These are market averages, not a forecast for your name. They show the trade: a fast sale to an investor usually means a wholesale price.
Private sales and escrow timing
If a buyer has already approached you, the sale itself is fast, but the money is not instant. Escrow.com’s own FAQ, How long does the escrow process take?, says “most transactions are completed within 1 to 20 business days”. Buyer and seller choose an inspection period of 1 to 30 days, and transactions over $3,000 need account verification, which can take up to one business day to review.

Payment speed depends on the method. Escrow.com says wire payments are processed within 1 to 5 business days, PayPal and card within one; domestic wires arrive in about 1 business day, international ones in 3 to 5, and ACH in about 3. The transfer itself can take “a few minutes to up to six weeks”, depending on the registrar. A short inspection period is the easiest lever you control. More on the process is in domain escrow.
When selling a domain fast makes sense
Speed is worth paying for when holding the name costs more than the discount. A renewal you do not want to pay is the usual reason; another is a portfolio you are winding down. Remember the clocks: Namecheap will not list a name less than 7 days before expiry, and Fast Transfer excludes names within 30 days of it. If renewal is close, decide early.

Know your floor before you accept anything quick. The free Domain Worth Calculator scores a name on extension, length, words, characters, age and links and maps it to a value band. It is not a market appraisal, but it tells you whether a fast offer is in the right range. If the name is aged and suits SEO buyers, you can list it on the SERPHeroes Domain Marketplace at a fixed price or a minimum offer. It is smaller than Afternic or Sedo, so list elsewhere too where terms allow.

Frequently asked questions
Will GoDaddy or Afternic buy my domain outright?
No verified programme does this. Afternic and GoDaddy list your name for sale to buyers; they do not buy it themselves.
Can I still list a domain on GoDaddy Auctions?
No. GoDaddy stopped taking new member listings on 29 April 2024 and points sellers to Afternic. Its auctions now focus on expired names.
How quickly can I withdraw Namecheap Market earnings?
Namecheap says earnings are “normally eligible for withdrawal after 5 days of a waiting period”, and the PayPal withdrawal minimum is $100.
What is the fastest way to get paid?
A Fast Transfer sale on Afternic, where GoDaddy says you are paid once delivery completes. A private Escrow.com sale typically takes 1 to 20 business days.
The takeaway There is no instant cash button. A realistic Buy Now price with Fast Transfer is the quickest route; auctions add a deadline but usually a wholesale price.
