AdSense payments: threshold, payment dates and methods

A piggy bank with coins

AdSense pays monthly. Google’s wording: “You accrue estimated earnings over the course of a month, and then at the beginning of the following month your earnings are finalized and posted to your balance on your Payments page. If your balance exceeds the payment threshold and you have no payment holds, you’ll be issued a payment between the 21st and the 26th of the month.” Every figure below comes from Google’s AdSense Help pages, checked 2 November 2026.

So June’s earnings are finalised by 3 July and paid “on or around July 21st”. There is no fixed pay day, only a window.

The AdSense payment date: a monthly calendar

The source is Google’s Payment timelines for AdSense page. The dates apply to every method.

WhenWhat happens
During the monthYou accrue estimated earnings
By the 3rd of the next month“Your estimated earnings for the previous month are finalized and posted to your Payments page”
By the 20thPayment changes, including removing holds, must be done; the balance must reach the payment threshold
21st–26thPayment issued; a “Payment pending” line appears on the Payments page

The 20th is the date that matters. “Changes made after the 20th of any month won’t take effect until the following month’s payment cycle,” and if your balance is short of the threshold or a hold is in place, “you will not be paid that month and your balance will be rolled over to the following month.” A 21st on a weekend or holiday may push issue to the next business day.

Estimated and finalised are different numbers. Google’s “Estimated vs finalized earnings” page says estimates are not final until the end of the month, “which is when we adjust for invalid clicks or impressions”, and both are calculated in the AdSense billing time zone (America/Los Angeles). Why those deductions happen is covered in our piece on AdSense invalid traffic.

How long does AdSense take to pay?

Issue is not arrival. Once the payment shows as “Payment pending”, the wait depends on how you are paid.

MethodTime to arrive after issue (as Google states it)
EFT (bank transfer)“Up to seven business days” (timeline page); “4-10 days” (Payments FAQs)
Wire transfer“Allow up to 15 business days”
Check“Allow two to four weeks”; can take “as long as four weeks”
PayPal Hyperwallet“1-2 days” for earnings to become available in the Hyperwallet account

Put Google’s dates together: earnings made on 1 October are finalised by 3 November, issued between 21 and 26 November, and by EFT can take up to seven business days after that. If an EFT payment has not arrived by the end of the month, Google says to ask your bank. Google lists no fee of its own; your bank or PayPal may charge one.

AdSense payment thresholds

Google’s “Payment thresholds” page names five thresholds, and they “vary depending on the reporting currency in your account.” In US dollars:

ThresholdUSDWhat it triggers
Tax information$0Tax details are needed from the start
Verification (identity / address)$0 / $10Identity check; address PIN posted
Payment method selection$10You can choose how to be paid
Payment$100A payment is issued that month
Cancellation$10Final payment when an account closes

The identity figure carries a qualifier: “Depending on your location … Your identity verification threshold is now $0,” while address verification “is still $10 (or local equivalent).” The identity check itself, with its 45-day limit, is covered in how long AdSense approval takes. The 6-digit address PIN “usually takes 3 weeks” to arrive by post; three wrong entries stop your ads, and you have 4 months to enter it.

Local payment thresholds from the same table include €70, £60, A$100, C$100, NZ$130, S$150, ¥8000 and R1000. There is no row for Indian rupees. You can raise your payment threshold under Payments > Payments info > Manage settings, but not lower it below the default. On cancellation, Google says you receive your final payment “within approximately 90 days of the end of the month”.

How fast you reach $100 depends on what each 1,000 views earns, covered in AdSense RPM, and on whether impressions or clicks pay, covered in does AdSense pay per click.

AdSense payment methods by country

Once you pass the payment method threshold, “Depending on your payment address”, the options may include check, EFT, SEPA, wire transfer and PayPal Hyperwallet. Google’s country tables for AdSense show, for example:

Google’s rule of thumb: “If a form of payment is not shown in your “Add payment method” page, then it’s not available in your country.” A few details per method:

  • EFT pays “in your local currency”. Most countries need a test deposit, “usually less than $1”, taking 1–5 business days to appear.
  • Wire pays “in U.S. dollars or Euros, depending on your account currency”. Your bank must be in the same country as your payments address.
  • Check payments come from Citibank. Euro-denominated checks ended on 7 August 2026; USD checks continue.
  • PayPal Hyperwallet is the only PayPal route, in specific countries. You cannot use an existing Hyperwallet account.

Why an AdSense payment is on hold

A hold shows as an alert on your Payments page. Google says “Common reasons include submitting tax information and verifying your identity or address.” Clear it by the 20th or the payment waits a month.

ReasonWhat to do
Tax information not submittedSubmit it in your payments settings
Identity not verifiedComplete the check within 45 days of the first request
Address not verifiedEnter the PIN from the letter
“A form of payment hasn’t been set up.”Add a method once past the $10 threshold
“There is a self-hold on your account.”Remove it by the 20th
Compliance holdProvide the identity information asked for in the Google payments centre
Policy reviewWait; it is “automatically removed at the end of the investigation” if the account and traffic are valid
Stacks of coins

A self-hold is the one you choose: “You can put a temporary hold on your AdSense payments for up to one year,” placed by the 20th to postpone the next payment. The serious one is withholding. Google says that if an account “is found to be in violation of our Terms and Conditions or Program policies, we may at anytime withhold payment”.

What you cannot change

  • Early payment. “Can I get paid early? No, we aren’t able to issue payments outside of our normal payment schedule for any reason.”
  • Frequency. “Currently we do not allow changes to the frequency of payments.” Monthly is the only option; the self-hold is the only lever.
  • Currency. “Unfortunately, it’s not possible to change your payment currency.”

Frequently asked questions

How long does AdSense take to pay?

Earnings are finalised by the 3rd of the following month and issued between the 21st and 26th if the balance is over the threshold. Arrival then takes up to seven business days for EFT, up to 15 for wire and two to four weeks for a check.

What is the AdSense payment threshold?

$100 in US dollars, with local equivalents such as €70 and £60. You can raise it but not lower it below the default.

Can AdSense pay to PayPal?

Only through PayPal Hyperwallet, in specific countries. You need a new Hyperwallet account set up through AdSense.

Does AdSense pay to Payoneer?

Google does not list Payoneer as an AdSense payment method.

How does AdSense pay in India?

Google’s country table lists wire transfer for India, not EFT, check or Hyperwallet. Your “Add payment method” page shows what is available to you.

The takeaway Work to the 20th: have the balance over $100, the PIN entered, a payment method set and every hold cleared by then, and you are paid between the 21st and 26th. Miss any of it and the money waits a month. Nothing speeds the cycle up.
