Top domain sales of 2025: the full-year chart

Annual report pages on a table

The list below is DNJournal’s work, not ours. Its year-end archive page is titled “2025 Top 100 Domain Sales Chart” and covers the “Highest domain sales reported in all extensions through Dec. 31, 2025”. The chart is now closed: DNJournal’s final update added three late arrivals, and the entry bar ended at $99,888. Below is every row at $250,000 or above, copied as published. Every price is as reported to DNJournal; none is an independent valuation.

Top domain sales 2025: every sale of $250,000 or more

Ranked by price, with “=” marking a tie, using the positions printed in DNJournal’s table. The date is when DNJournal published the sale, not when it closed. Venues are as given in DNJournal’s “Where Sold” column, and non-dollar prices use DNJournal’s own conversions.

* DNJournal’s footnote: “Commerce.com was originally listed at $2.2 million (the price the seller received). Several months later new information from the buyer indicated the full amount paid after brokerage commission, etc. was $2,444,000.” † The chart prints Skins.com’s date as 12/24/26, evidently a slip for 2025, since the chart only runs to 31 December 2025. Just below the cut sits AITools.com at $238,000. The remaining rows, down to Altitude.xyz at $99,888, are on DNJournal’s 2025 Top 100 chart.

Why AI.com and Club.com are not on this chart

Readers who remember AI.com at $70,000,000 will wonder where it went. It closed in 2025 but was first reported in 2026, so DNJournal charts it in 2026. The same goes for Club.com at $10,000,000, which closed in June 2025. DNJournal explained its rule on 14 April 2026: “If a sale is being reported for the first time and has closed within the past 12 months, we put it on our latest bi-weekly Top 20 sales chart and add it to the current year’s YTD Sales Chart.” Both now sit at the top of the top domain sales of 2026.

Count by closing date instead and AI.com would be 2025’s largest domain sale by a wide margin. Wikipedia’s list of the most expensive domain names does exactly that, filing both AI.com and Icon.com under 2025. On DNJournal’s 2025 chart, though, the number one is Icon.com, and that is the convention this page follows.

The rule also cuts the other way at the year boundary. GameFi.com, RWA.exchange and HealthStrategy.com were published on 7 January 2026 yet placed on the 2025 chart, while Midnight.com ($1,150,000) and C4.com ($265,000), also published that January, went into the 2026 list.

The top five, checked against a second source

DNJournal is the compiler, so the question is which of its largest prices someone else also reported.

  • Icon.com, $12,000,000. DNJournal reported it in April 2025 as the “6th Largest Publicly Reported Domain Sale of All Time”. Rebel.com’s year review agrees, saying Icon.com “changed hands for an incredible $12 million in April”. Wikipedia names the buyer as Icon.
  • Commerce.com. Two figures, both from DNJournal: $2.2 million to the seller, and $2,444,000 paid by the buyer including commission. Rebel’s “about $2.2 million” matches the first.
  • Fuse.com, $2,129,509. Rebel lists it at $2.13 million, consistent with the chart.
  • Anything.com, $2,000,000, and Sword.com, $1,500,000. Only DNJournal’s chart was checked for these two, so treat both as reported.

Rebel’s review also gives GX.com at $1.2 million, Wisdom.ai at “about $750,000” and Cloud.ai at “around $600,000”, each in line with DNJournal. No other year-end list was used to confirm the top five.

What the 2025 chart adds up to

These figures are our arithmetic from DNJournal’s chart. They describe publicly reported cash sales only, not the whole 2025 domain market.

  • The 36 rows at $250,000+: combined $37,691,225; median $575,000; mean about $1,047,000. Nine reached seven figures.
  • The top ten: combined $25,712,959, and every one of them is a .com.
  • The whole Top 100: combined $46,805,496; median $167,655; mean about $468,000.
  • Venues: by the last platform credited, Sedo appears on 11 of the 36 rows and Atom.com on 4. Counts are approximate because many rows credit several parties.

A calendar at the end of the year

The pattern is clear. Short .coms dominate the top, while .ai thins out at the very high end and thickens in the middle of the chart. Wisdom.ai at $750,000 was the biggest country-code sale of the year. Sedo’s chief executive, Michael Robrock, told DNJournal’s State of the Industry report that “AI-related domains and the .ai TLD remained a major growth driver throughout the year”, and that his company “saw more million-dollar domain sales in 2025 than in the previous year”. Our running record of recent .ai domain sales picks up from there.

What the chart cannot tell you

A ranking of reported prices leaves out every deal kept private. It names almost no buyers: apart from Icon.com, no buyer on this list has been publicly confirmed. It also says nothing about why a buyer paid what it did; for the general case of a business moving to a stronger name, see upgrading to a better domain name.

For records across every year, see the most expensive domain names; to trace what one name has sold for before, use domain sales history. If the chart has you curious about your own name, the free Domain Worth Calculator maps it to a value band factor by factor. It is not a market appraisal, and it was not run on these sales.

Frequently asked questions

What was the biggest domain sale of 2025?

On DNJournal’s 2025 chart, Icon.com at $12,000,000. AI.com at $70,000,000 closed in 2025, but it was first reported in 2026, so DNJournal charts it in 2026.

How much did a domain need to sell for to make the 2025 Top 100?

DNJournal says the minimum was $99,888, the price of Altitude.xyz at number 100.

Why does Commerce.com appear at two different prices?

It was first listed at $2.2 million, the seller’s figure. The buyer later said the full outlay, including brokerage commission, was $2,444,000, which is what the chart now shows.

Is this every domain sold in 2025 for $250,000 or more?

No. It covers cash sales reported to DNJournal. Private deals that were never disclosed are missing.

The takeaway DNJournal’s 2025 chart belongs to Icon.com, with 36 reported sales at $250,000 or more and .com taking all of the top ten. The year’s largest deal by closing date, AI.com, is on the 2026 chart instead.
